Kiwanis plans arts, crafts show, dancers

The West Seneca Kiwanis Club will hold its annual arts and crafts festival from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 14, and Sunday, July 15, at Town Hall, 1250 Union Road. In addition to the arts and crafts show, the club will showcase local dance studios from West Seneca.

Artifacts on display for historical society

The next general meeting of the West Seneca Historical Society and Museum will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at the West Seneca Senior Center, 4620 Seneca St. The special guest will be Dr. Douglas Perrelli, chair of the Archeological Survey Department at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Perrelli will present “West Seneca’s Pre-History History.” Join the historical society to learn more about pre-historic artifacts of the ancient people who walked the land now known as West Seneca. The general membership meeting begins at 7 p.m. with Dr. Perrelli’s presentation immediately following. The meeting and presentation is open to the public and is free to members of the Historical Society, a fee of $5 is required for non-members.

Seniors recall days spent at Crystal Beach

“Preserving and Sharing the Life Story of Crystal Beach Amusement Park” is the next subject for the Ebenezer Seniors on Friday, July 20. Mark Jamik will bring back many memories from those Crystal Beach days. Remember the Beach Boat, the Dance Hall, the wooden roller coaster, the rides and always the cotton candy? Join the seniors at 1:30 p.m. to watch and chat about those fun days. Meet at the Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 630 Main St., or call 674-4566 for more information.

New Hope holds free community meal

New Hope United Methodist Church will offer a free community meal at 4 p.m. Friday, July 20, at the church, 2846 Seneca St. The menu will include barbecued chicken, macaroni salad, corn on the cob, a beverage and dessert. The meal is free as an outreach of the ministry but a free will offering may be made if desired. Use the Delray Avenue entrance. For more information, call 825-8745.

St. John’s offers Weidner barbecue

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church will host a Weidner chicken barbecue and gift card auction from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at the church, 3512 Clinton St. Dinners will include a half chicken, Mark’s homemade baked beans, mac salad and one dessert, beverage and Costanzo’s roll. Dine in and takeout are available. Tickets are $10 presale, available until Thursday, Sept. 6, or $11 at the door. Tickets for the gift card raffle are $4 per sheet. A door prize will be available, and each presale ticket comes with one additional chance to win. Call 440-8173 for tickets or more information.
