Children make crafts and search for fairies, gnomes and elves in the woods during the 2017 Enchanted Forest at the Burchfield Nature & Art Center. This year’s event will be held Sunday, July 15, at the park, 2001 Union Road. Friends of Burchfield Nature and Art Center will host its annual Enchanted Forest Sunday, July 15, in the park at 2001 Union Road. Representatives from the Burchfield said the free family fun event from 1 to 4 p.m. will encourage children, their friends and families to enjoy the park.

There will be activities to spark the imagination and draw attention to the wonders of nature. A construction area will provide materials for elf, gnome and fairy homes to be built along pathways in the park. Bubbles and fairy dust will be added to the enchantment of the grounds.

Visitors may create a magic wand and design a nature crown. Nature coloring, face painting, rock painting and game activities will be enjoyed. The Fairy Tea Room will serve complimentary sprite-sized refreshments for children. Families can enjoy a walk in the woodlands and look for the new Tree Stump Garden.

During the afternoon, a Fairy Princess will be in the park to visit with the children and help them make their Butterfly Wishes to hang in the trees. A Fairy Godmother will read stories in a relaxing setting near the Buffalo Creek. Guest performers from the Music Academy of Western New York will provide an additional magic touch to the festivities.

All are invited to come dressed as fairies, elves, gnomes, wizards, other fun characters or as themselves so the park can be filled with creative and happy children.

In case of inclement weather, The Enchanted Forest will take place the following Sunday, July 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, call 677-4843 or go to BurchfieldNAC.org.
