West grapplers place sixth at Class A Championships

After a long and tough season, West Seneca West’s wrestling team came together with a solid performance in Saturday’s annual Class A Championships at Sweet Home that saw seven Indians qualify for the upcoming Section VI Division I tournament.

West, which placed sixth in the team standings this past weekend, was led by individual runner-up Nick Campanella at 126 points. Third-place finishes were recorded by team co-captains Paul Cantafio and Kyle Bauer at 113 and 138 pounds, respectively, while fourth-place efforts were turned in by Jack Gillis and Corey Snyder at 132 and 160 pounds, respectively.

Fifth-place efforts were recorded by Tyler Wilkinson and Jacob Mancuso at 106 and 132 pounds, respectively.

Those who qualified will now head to North Tonawanda Saturday to compete for the opportunity to advance to the upcoming state championships.
