The West Seneca “Blue” Athletics summer track and field program saw its 2017 season come to an end Thursday when its competitors took part in the Southern Erie Running Club’s Summer Track and Field Competition at Pioneer High School.

West Seneca had 15 individuals or relays across six different age divisions come away from their final competition victoriously.

In the 8 and under division, Orchard Park resident Elijah Brown won the boys 50-meter hurdles (10.8 seconds) and the 400 dash (1 minute, 24.1 seconds) in his first-ever attempt at either event. Fellow Orchard Park resident Nyah Watkins won the girls 9-10 division 55 dash (personal best 9.0), triple jump (personal best 19-feet-10) and long jump (personal best 9-9¼).

In the 11-12 division, the girls 4x100 relay of Maria Borzillieri, Maya Zubek, Orchard Park resident Mara Gregoire and Clarence resident Samantha Payne was victorious, with Payne also winning the 800 (personal best 2:39.7) and triple jump (24-4½). It was her first-ever attempt at the triple jump.

In the 15-16 division, the girls 4x100 relay of Mings, Madeline Freeland, Andrea Newell and Kelsey Sainsbury was the only winner. The rest of West Seneca’s victories came in the 17-18 division, with the boys 4x100 relay of Cheektowaga resident Kyle Krzanowicz, Peter Borzillieri, Travis Kelly and Cullen Tonge leading the way. Peter Borzillieri (100 dash and long jump) and Tonge (400 dash and 800) were also winners in individual events.

Second-place finishes were posted in four different age divisions by West Seneca competitors, including three each by competitors in the 11-12 and the 13-14 divisions.

Orchard Park’s Aryanna Brown was the 9-10 division’s sole victor as she won the girls 400 dash in her first-ever attempt at the event. Gregoire hit a personal-best 20-8 to finish second in the girls triple jump, while Maria Borzillieri was the runner up in the girls’ long jump.
