Only screws as clues in license plate ruse

Tuesday, Aug. 1

• A Knox Avenue woman reported that a license plate was stolen off the rear of her vehicle. Police found screws in the roadway and advised the woman to report the theft to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Wednesday, Aug. 2

• A Buffalo woman was arrested for alleged larceny after police responded to a call of shoplifting at Tops Markets on Orchard Park Road. The woman was reportedly found to have various merchandise, valued at $72.25, in her purse. She was charged with petit larceny.

Thursday, Aug. 3

• A Lackawanna man was stopped on Orchard Park Road for an obstructed driver’s view. A computer check of the driver showed his license to be suspended. He was ticketed for aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a vehicle with obstructed vision, and was released.

Friday, Aug. 4

• Police responded to Tops Markets on Orchard Park Road for a report of a shoplifting in progress. Upon arrival, the man, who was a resident of Charleston, West Virginia, allegedly turned himself in to police and was arrested. He was charged with petit larceny.

Monday, Aug. 7

• A Lackawanna man was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated on Ridge Road. He was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, failure to keep right and speeding.
