Puerto Rican man gets boot there, arrested here

Monday, July 24

• Police responded to Kmart on Orchard Park Road for a report of shoplifting. An Angola man had allegedly taken one 19-ounce can of Red Bull and one can of haircutting blade oil, valued at $9.16. While retrieving the items, police reportedly located a small bag containing suspected cocaine. The man was arrested and charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

• A Buffalo woman was charged with criminal possession of stolen property. Loss prevention at Wegmans on Orchard Park Road had contacted police to report a theft. Police said the woman was in possession of $157.93 in unpaid-for Buffalo-themed clothing. Loss prevention provided police a video surveillance showing the woman taking the product without paying. She is additionally charged with petit larceny.

Wednesday, July 26

• Kmart store security stopped a man who allegedly stole $71.98 worth of various merchandise. Upon speaking with the man, police reported that he was homeless and did not speak English. Border Patrol was contacted and spoke to the subject, who said his family in Puerto Rico had kicked him out. He then flew to Boston, Massachusetts, and took a bus to Buffalo, where he had been living in Cazenovia Park for five days. He was found to have an arrest in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He was arrested and charged with petit larceny.
