Seneca Health Care to host yard sale

The McGuire Group’s Seneca Health Care Center, at 2987 Seneca St., will host a yard sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, July 14. Those who would like to donate an item for the sale may contact Melissa Schlierf at 828-0500 or mschlierf@mcguire group.com.

Car wash, bake sale to benefit mission trip

Fellowship Wesleyan Church will hold a car wash and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at the church, 1645 Southwestern Blvd., across from the YMCA. Proceeds will be used for a mission trip to Guatemala. For more information, call the church office at 675-9245.

Bus trip to Buffalo Creek Casino planned

A bus trip to the Buffalo Creek Casino will take place Monday, July 17. The bus will depart at 9 a.m. from the Fourteen Holy Helpers parking lot, 1350 Indian Church Road, returning at 6 p.m. Call 668-6037 for more information or to register.

New Hope serves community meal

New Hope United Methodist Church will host a free community meal from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 21, at the church, 2846 Seneca St. The meal will include goulash, salad, bread, dessert and beverages. The meal is offered as a community outreach, but a freewill offering can be made if desired.

Enchanted Forest event set for July 23

The Burchfield Nature & Art Center welcomes children and families to its Enchanted Forest event from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 23, at the park, 2001 Union Road. Free activities include building fairy houses, creating wands and crowns, coloring nature pictures, having a snack in the fairy tea room, getting art painted on faces or hands, listening to a magical story, making butterfly wishes and enjoying nature in the Burchfield Park. St. John’s to serve community dinner

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church will host a free community dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m., or until sold out, on Friday, July 28, at the church, 3512 Clinton St. On the menu are barbecued beef soup and summer salad, with drinks and desserts. The meal is family-friendly and is offered to anyone in need of food or fellowship. Freewill donations will be accepted.

‘Fur Cats Only’ aims for 100 adoptions

Western New York’s Furtastic Adopt-A-Thon will hold “Fur Cats Only,” a pet adoption event, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at the Tri-Town Clinic, 2724 Transit Road. The goal of the event is to find forever homes for 100 cats and kittens in the five hours allotted. Included in the adoption are a microchip, bag of TLC cat food and a gift bag. Admission is free. Antiques, collectibles to be appraised

The West Seneca Historical Society and Museum is holding an antiques and collectibles appraisal day from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at the museum, 919 Mill Road. Two experts will be on hand to perform appraisals. Refreshments will be served, and the museum will be open for tours. A $2 donation for each item appraised is requested. West alumni picnic welcomes classes

West Seneca West High School classes, up to and including the class of 1966, are invited to get together for a picnic on Wednesday, Aug. 23. The event is being organized by the West Seneca West Alumni Committee. Those interested in joining may call Terry Sutton at 632-4040.

Library schedules Aug. 19 yard sale

The Friends of the West Seneca Public Library will hold a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, on the hill adjacent to Town Hall, 1250 Union Road. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the parking lot in front of the ice rink. The public is invited to request table space for a $20 donation and to shop at the sale. Benefit for Marlene McMillian to be held

A benefit for Marlene McMillian, a cleaner at East Senior High School, will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Seneca Hose Fire Company, 2801 Seneca St. McMillian is currently battling cancer and recently lost her husband, Dick, who served as head custodian in the district. She has been a district employee since 1984. Organizers of the event are seeking monetary and food donations; baskets for a raffle; and volunteers to help run the event. St. Teresa’s pours wine knowledge

St. Teresa’s Church will hold a Wine Appreciation 101 evening with winemaker William Ouweleen. The event will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 28, at the parish center, 33 Mineral Springs Road. Attendees must be at least 21. Featured wines will be from Finger Lakes and Eagle Crest vineyards. A chocolate fountain with dipping foods, appetizers, door prizes, a basket raffle and 50/50 split will be offered. St. John’s seeks vendors for fair

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church is preparing for its second annual vendor fair and is looking for additional vendors. The event is slated for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the church, 3512 Clinton St. During the event, a Weidner’s chicken dinner will be offered for takeout.
