Experts offer advice to entrepreneurs at Small Business Start-Up

Sen. Patrick Gallivan is bringing together business experts and community agencies to help entrepreneurs and others in launching their own small business.

The Small Business Start-Up event will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the West Seneca Senior Center, 4620 Seneca St. The program is free.

“There is nothing more rewarding than owning your own business, but starting and building a successful business in today’s economy can be challenging,” Gallivan said. “This event brings business experts together in one place to help navigate the process and to answer any questions that entrepreneurs may have.”

The event will include representatives of Empire State Development, the Small Business Administration, the Better Business Bureau, the Erie County Clerk’s Office, local Chambers of Commerce and other organizations.

Speakers will include Gallivan, Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs and Frank Swiatek, who serves as Gallivan’s senior adviser for small business. Swiatek is a private-sector consultant and has worked with numerous small businesses and more than 25 Fortune 500 companies.

Gallivan serves on the Senate’s Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business Committee, which is responsible for overseeing and developing legislation and policy relating to state regulations, mandates, tax credit programs and growth incentives for all business sectors in the state.

Anyone interested in attending the event must register by calling 656-8544.
