Gehen, Kirchberger among girls ice hockey All-WNY all-stars

The second season of the Western New York Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Federation resulted in two new champions.

The Monsignor Martin Association beat West Seneca, 2-1, for the Federation championship while Kenmore beat West Seneca, 1-0, for the public school title.

It’s no surprise that players from the Monsignor Martin, Kenmore and West Seneca girls hockey teams comprise the All-Western New York First Team.

Making the First Team are forwards Rachel Leonard (MMA), Kate Miller (Kenmore) and Erin Gehen (West Seneca), defensemen Julia Duquette (MMA) and Nikki Kirchbeger (West Seneca) and goalie Lauren Pray (Kenmore).

Making up the Second Team are forwards Tara Barnhardt (MMA), Emily Koestler (Williamsville), Bernadette O’Connell (Frontier/Orchard Park), defensemen Maddy Grisko (Amherst/Sweet Home), Juliet Holme (Williamsville) and goalie Sydney Glenn (West Seneca).

Earning Honorable Mention are forwards Larissa Filipski (Lancaster), Cassandra Hopkins (Williamsville), Missy Mallon (Amherst/Sweet Home), Sara O’Brien (Amherst/Sweet Home), Kathryn Yoder (Amherst/Sweet Home) and Rachel Ziarnowski (MMA); defensemen Jill Schrader (West Seneca), Kaeli Mathias (Kenmore), Shannon Maron (MMA), Emily Keable (Amherst/Sweet Home), Caroline Soh (Williamsville), Nadine DeNijis (Frontier/ Orchard Park) and Megan Reykauf (Lancaster); and goalies Danielle Glinski (Frontier/OP), Courtney Wesolowski (MMA), Theresa Meosky (Williamsville) and Madeline Norton (Lancaster).
