Bee Heard

. My neighbor is an assistant fire chief who uses his own vehicle. After all the controversy started, I talked to him and found out he pays for his own gas, insurance and any and all repairs.

.I called the code officer twice and he told me the resident has been sent a letter. Well, the camper still sits on the lawn at the corner of Emporium and Gordon.

.The West Seneca Planning Board canceled its meeting for this month. Maybe the Planning Board should plan better.

.Regarding the house that had a fire about two years ago on Indian Church Road, it is still standing in the same condition. It’s unheard of that this house would stand like this for more than two years. These people had a benefit for them; why aren’t they using the money they obtained from the benefit to fix this house? Isn’t that against the law?

.There is a house in West Seneca, going east on Seneca Street past the Ebenezer Ale House, that is a disgrace to the community. Why has the building inspector let the outside of this house look like a junkyard and has not made the owner clean it up? Something should be done about this.

.Kudos to Sheila Meegan. I can’t remember the last time, or if ever, I heard a politician say, ‘I made a mistake, I will correct it, we will work to fix it.’ Great job, Sheila.

.I’m glad that Mrs. Meegan admitted she didn’t know what she was voting on. That’s really good. I’m glad she does her homework when she votes. I wonder how many other things she will vote on when she has a vagueness.

.Doesn’t the town have anything better to do than destroy perfectly good street trees? They’ve done a horrible job and have ruined perfectly good landscape.

.Your readers need to get their facts straight. Mr. Piotrowski did pay to have his sewer line replaced prior to selling his old house; I should know, as I lived on the street.

.I believe the supervisor’s office should be in Town Hall. If the police need more space, let them go to Burchfield. The supervisor belongs in Town Hall.

.Assistant fire chief vehicles should be used in the town only. I am complaining about the private use of these vehicles as taxis. There is no complaint when they use official vehicles to respond to calls, but they are taking their wives to work, their children to/from school every day and using them for personal use (grocery shopping, taking trips out of town). These vehicles should be used by only the chief, assistant chief or a fire person, as they are not family vehicles. They should not leave the Town of West Seneca.

.I was disgusted to read another short-sighted column in The Bee. The Keystone pipeline is more corporate greed looking only short term. The answer to our energy needs is green energy, like solar, wind and geothermal. It is the short- and long-term answer with health and environmental benefits.
