‘Friday Fun Night’ planned for students

Youth Engaged in Service has planned a “Friday Fun Night” for for students in grades five through eight. This will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Kiwanis Youth Center, 50 Legion Parkway. Admission is $3. The event will feature air hockey, foosball, pool, music, Wii games and snacks for sale.

Art Gallery donates proceeds to charity

Enjoy the Journey Art Gallery will host a “holiday trunk show,” featuring jewelry artists Anne Bliss and Gary Melius, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Haven House, a local shelter for victims of domestic violence. The gallery is located at 1168 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca. Buffalo Choral Art Society plans two performances

The Buffalo Choral Art Society will present its annual Christmas concert, titled “Gloria!,” at two locations this year. The concerts have been scheduled as follows: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 66 East Main St., Hamburg; as well as 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at St. Joseph Cathedral, 50 Franklin St., Buffalo. Tickets are $15 each. Super Second Saturdays offers crafts for youth

The next “Super Second Saturdays” for children ages 5 to 10 will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Burchfield Nature & Art Center, 2001 Union Road, West Seneca. ‘Spirit of Christmas’ comes to Southgate

The Spirit of Christmas will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, Dec. 10 and 17, at the Southgate Plaza, Union Road in West Seneca. The event will feature free horse and carriage rides. Local groups will sing Christmas carols as they stroll the walks of the plaza. In addition, Santa Claus will be available for photos at the Fitting Place. Holiday cookie sale, pancake breakfast

Covenant United Methodist Church will host its annual cookie sale and pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10. Breakfast is all-you-can-eat and costs $6 per person. BNCC seeks participants for arts, crafts show

The Buffalo Niagara Court Center will host its first arts and crafts show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10. New Hope UMC plans Christmas cookie sale

New Hope United Methodist Church will host its annual Christmas cookie sale from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Dec. 10. The church is located at 2846 Seneca St., West Seneca. Holiday bake sale set at St. Stephen Church

St. Stephen Serbian Orthodox Church will host its annual holiday bake sake from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 10, in the Cultural Center, located at 177 Weber Road, Lackawanna. A large assortment of cookies and baked goods will be offered, including nut and torta rolls.

Historical Society sets instillation luncheon

The West Seneca Historical Society will host its annual holiday luncheon and installation of officers at noon on Sunday, Dec. 11, at Tony Rome’s Restaurant, 1537 Union Road, West Seneca. Rev. Daniel J. Palys leads Christmas service

A “hope for the holidays” Christmas memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at St. Matthew’s Cemetery Chapel, located at 180 Old French Road, West Seneca. The service is a way to celebrate life and remember loved ones. It will be conducted by the Rev. Daniel J. ‘Breakfast with Santa,’ story with Mrs. Claus

West Seneca Youth Engaged in Service will host its annual “Breakfast with Santa” from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at the West Seneca Senior Center, 4620 Seneca St. Doors open at 8:45 a.m. Cost is $10 per person. Children under 1 are free. French toast and sausage will be served, along with a visit from Santa Claus and story with Mrs. Claus, as well as holiday sing-a-longs, crafts and face painting. First Baptist choir to sing Christmas Cantata

The First Baptist Church Choir will perform the Christmas Cantata “Season of Light” at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec 11. The church is located at 511 Union Road, West Seneca. The cantata was written by Ron and Shelly Hamilton and will be conducted by Orlando Buria, choir director. Refreshments will be served immediately following the performance.

‘Blue Christmas’ service to be offered at EUCC

A “Blue Christmas Observance” will be offered at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 630 Main St. This is a service of worship for those who may have suffered loss of loved ones or traumatic life changing experiences.

Shriners of WNY plan Irish Christmas concert

The Shriners of Western New York will host an Irish Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at the Shrine Center, located at 1600 Southwestern Blvd., West Seneca. St. Peter’s will present Sunday School play

St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, located at 1475 Orchard Park Road, will host its Sunday School Christmas play at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at the church’s Fellowship Hall Stage. This year’s play, “A Muppets Christmas Carol,” is the timeless Charles Dickens story but with Muppet humor of the miser “Scrooge” who finally comes to feel the magic of Christmas through the visits of three spirits in one night.

Ebenezer UCC slates Christmas Eve services

Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 630 Main St., will offer three Christmas Eve services on Saturday, Dec. 24. The Family Candlelight Service featuring the Children’s Choir will be held at 5 p.m. Also, there will be candlelight services with Holy Communion at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Christmas Eve worship planned at St. Peter’s

St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 1475 Orchard Park Road, will hold a Christmas Eve service at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24. The service will feature performances by the Chancel Choir and Strike the Rock. A reception with cider and cookies, provided by Linda Harle-Mould, will immediately follow the service.

Friends of Burchfield plan holiday open house

The Friends of the Burchfield Nature & Art Center, 2001 Union Road, will host a free holiday open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the week of Christmas, Dec. 26-30. Guests can enjoy a Christmas tree in the park and refreshments inside the center. Each day will have a new theme. Arthritis programs held at First Presbyterian

The Arthritis Foundation’s “Walk With Ease” program will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. every Monday through Dec. 19 at First Presbyterian Church, 2085 Union Road. Monday night dinners served at Post 721

South Buffalo American Legion Post 721 will serve spaghetti and meatball dinners from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Dec. 19 and Jan. 23. Basket donations sought for foundation’s benefit

The third annual Amanda Hansen Foundation wine- and beer-tasting benefit will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Buffalo Niagara Court Center, located at 425 Meyer Road, West Seneca.
