Fire districts to hold elections

The annual elections for the six West Seneca fire districts will take place between 6 and 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at each respective fire hall.

The following is a list of elected positions and propositions to be featured on this year’s ballot:

In District No. 1, Winchester Fire Company, residents will elect one fire commissioner for a five-year term, which commences Jan. 1 and ends Dec. 31, 2016; as well as one fire commissioner for a one-year term, commencing Jan. 1 and ending Dec. 31, 2012.

John Mett will run unopposed for the five-year term, and Richard Blonski will also run unopposed for the one-year term.

Voting will be held at Winchester Fire Hall, 514 Harlem Road.

For District No. 2, Union Fire Company, residents will elect a fire commissioner for a five-year term, which commences Jan. 1 and ends Dec. 31, 2016.

Running for that position are Robert Bengert Jr. and Thomas Held.

Voting will be held at Union Fire Hall, 2055 Union Road.

In District No. 3, Reserve Fire Company, residents will elect one fire commissioner for a five-year term, commencing Jan. 1 and ending Dec. 31, 2016; as well as one treasurer for a three-year term, commencing Jan. 1 and ending Dec. 31, 2014.

Dave Guarino, who is running for the commissioner post; and George Paul, who is running for treasurer; are both unopposed.

Voting will take place at Berg Road Fire Hall, 2400 Berg Road

For District No. 4, East Seneca Fire Company, residents will elect a fire commissioner for a five-year term, which commences Jan. 1 and ends Dec. 31, 2016.

Running unopposed is Ray Funk.

Residents will also vote on a proposition to authorize the withdrawal of no more than $208,000 from a previously established Apparatus Fund to purchase a 1999 Pierce heavy rescue vehicle.

Voting will be held at the East Seneca Fire Hall, 100 Lein Road.

In District No. 5, Seneca Hose Fire Company, residents will elect a fire commissioner for a five-year term, which commences Jan. 1 and ends Dec. 31, 2016.

Running unopposed is Paul G. Sulpizio, who is seeking re-election.

Voting will be held at the Seneca Hose Fire Hall, 2801 Seneca St.

For District No. 6, Vigilant Fire Company, residents will elect one fire commissioner for a five-year term, commencing Jan. 1 and ending Dec. 31, 2016; as well as one commissioner for a three-year term, commencing Jan. 1 and ending Dec. 31, 2014.

The five-year term is vied by Joe Gullo and Rich Cramer, and Tom Casey will be opposed by Bill Cleary for the three-year term.

Residents will also vote on one proposition to authorize the sale of a 1999 Pierce heavy rescue vehicle. The resolution was adopted by the board of fire commissioners on Nov. 14.

Voting will be held at Vigilant Fire Hall, 666 Main St.
