Najm will officially earn the rank of Eagle Scout on Feb. 26. Boy Scout Troop 616 of West Seneca will soon install a new Eagle Scout onto the Troop’s Wall of Fame at Northwood Elementary on Saturday, Feb. 26.

Brendon Najm, of West Seneca, will be the newest Eagle Scout to join the 53 others in the troop’s 35-year history.

In addition to completing 21 merit badges in order to become an Eagle Scout, Najm designed and directed a service project that renovated a number of trails, as well as the gazebo at the Burchfield Nature & Art Center, 2001 Union Road, West Seneca.

During the August 2010 project, he led 40 volunteers through 135 hours worth of landscaping trails and repainting the gazebo. In an effort to publicize the center to the public, he also produced and directed a concert at the BNAC amphitheater.

Najm completed this project while still a senior at West Seneca East Senior High School. He is currently a freshman at Canisius College in Buffalo.

His future intention is to campaign for a seat on the West Seneca School Board this upcoming year.
