breakfast meeting

Hochul, NAWBO to discuss trends

in small business

Kathy Hochul, Erie County clerk, will discuss trends in small business for members of the National Association of Women Business Owners at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Sean Patrick’s Restaurant, 3480 Millersport Highway, Getzville. Reservations must be received by 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, and should be made online at www.nawbowny. org. Reservations also can be made via e-mail to nawbowny@ gmail.com, with “NAWBO Dinner Reservation” in the subject line. The cost of the event is $30 for members and $35 for guests.

Volunteers needed

for Red Cross advocacy program

The Greater Buffalo Chapter of the American Red Cross is currently seeking volunteers for its Ombudsman Program. The program provides advocacy services responsive to the complaints and problems of residents living in long-term care facilities. Ombudsmen must be at least 21 years of age with an interest and capacity to fulfill the role, as well as having strong verbal and written communication skills. Regularly scheduled training is provided. The next scheduled training program will be held Sept. 27-29 and Oct. 4-6. The classes run each day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be held at the American Red Cross, Greater Buffalo Chapter at 786 Delaware Ave. Those interested in the program should call 878-2385 for more information.
