Booster Club’s barbecue

to support sports teams

The West Seneca Booster Club will host a chicken barbecue from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 7, at West Seneca West Senior High School, 3330 Seneca St. Proceeds from the event will benefit the school’s sports teams. West Middle School

plans ‘Sign of the Times’

West Middle School, 395 Center Road, will host “Sign of the Times,” a themed-tray basket raff to be held Friday, May 7. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and admission is $5. Proceeds will go toward a sign to be placed on the front property of the school, currently the only building in the district without a sign. A 50/50 split raffle as well as a silent auction will be available. Snacks will be offered. For more information, call Kathy at 823-1063.

Chicken barbecue offered

at New Hope UMC

New Hope United Methodist Church, 2846 Seneca St., is hosting a chicken barbecue from noon till 3 p.m. Sunday, May 16. The cost is $7.50 presale and $8 at the door. Call 825-8745.

Steak roast dinner offered at VFW Post 8113

Mother’s Day dinner

A Mother’s Day family style, all-you-can-eat roast beef dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 9, at the West Seneca Masonic Lodge, 647 Main St., at the corner of Mill Road. The Eastern Erie Retired Teachers Association will hold its spring meeting on Tuesday, May 11, at the Columns Banquet Facility, 2221 Transit Road, Elma. Registration will begin at 11:15 a.m., followed by a business meeting, election of officers and lunch. The program “Attack of Foreign Plant and Animal Species in the Great Lakes” will be given by Ray Mazurkowicz, an adjunct professor and coordinator of a fly fishing program for military veterans. fundraiser for Relay

Western New York Federal Credit Union will host a Chinese auction and beer blast from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 14, at Strikers bowling lanes, 50 Michael Road. All proceeds from the event will go toward the West Seneca Relay For Life, ultimately benefiting the American Cancer Society. Admission is a $20 donation and includes beer, pop, pizza and wings, as well as a 50/50 split raffle and drink specials throughout the evening. Attendees must be 21 years of age. Fourteen Holy Helpers to host meat, basket raffle

Fourteen Holy Helpers Home School Association will host a pre-Memorial Day themed basket and raffle, featuring Redlinski’s Meat, at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at Monsignor Ebner Parish Hall, 1339 Indian Church Road. Historical Society plans

trip to WWII museum

The West Seneca Historical Society is sponsoring a trip to the World War II Museum in Eldred, Pa., on Friday, May 21. Buses will depart at 9 a.m. from Southgate Plaza and return about 4 p.m. The cost is $35 per person, including the bus fare, driver’s tip and museum entrance fee. Lunch at Sprague’s Restaurant will follow the tour, but the cost is not included. Only 29 spots are available, so it is first-come, first-served. The YMCA is sponsoring a family getaway for Memorial Day weekend, May 29 through 31, at Camp Weona. trip to Yankees game

The Blessed John XXIII Travel Group is sponsoring a trip to Toronto to see the Toronto Blue Jays play the New York Yankees at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 6. The group will travel by luxury motor coach to Rogers Stadium and will sit in field-level seats behind third base. Dinner at Frankie Tomatto’s Italian Feast will immediately follow the game. raise money for charity

Seneca Hose Fire Company, 2801 Seneca St., will host a fundraising event from TIME on Saturday, June 19. Featured will be live entertainment including Neil Diamond, Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash impersonations. The cost is $21 and includes beer, wine, pizza and raffles, with $2 from each ticket going toward charity.
