Meals on Wheels honors longtime volunteers

Meals on Wheels for Western New York Inc. recently honored three volunteers for their service in the West Seneca area at its annual Volunteer Recognition Reception in April, held at the new Meals on Wheels Community Learning Center in Buffalo.

Each year during National Volunteer Week, Meals on Wheels holds a volunteer recognition reception to pay tribute to its longtime volunteers. This year, 32 volunteers were honored.

Among the honorees were Elaine Donley for 30 years of service, Geraldine Dunford for 25 years, and Bette Nordblum for 20 years — all who serve meals to homebound elderly and disabled recipients in the West Seneca area.

Meals on Wheels operates a meal delivery site at the New Hope United Methodist Church on Seneca Street. Last year, volunteers delivered more than 39,000 meals to West Seneca residents.
