Gardenville Campus notes early success

The Gardenville Campus at Burchfield deemed its call for local artists for its first gallery exhibit, “Artists of West Seneca,” a huge success.

More than 60 local artists, including students from the West Seneca high schools, submitted in excess of 100 pieces of artwork soon to be displayed.

The opening reception for the exhibit will be in conjunction with the campus’s inaugural event, “A Night at Burchfield,” to be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 7, at the center, 2001 Union Road.

In addition to the artists’ exhibit, the night will feature performances from the West Seneca Town Band, directed by Clarence Hopper; a presentation of the history of the Burchfield property by James Manley; and demonstrations from the Burchfield Woodcarvers and Crosstown Quilters.

Local organizations will also have special exhibits, including the West Seneca Historical Society, Fireman’s Memorial Exhibition Center of WNY, the West Seneca Senior Citizens Center, the Red Hatter Society, the Amana Garden Club and the West Seneca Environmental Commission.

“It is going to be a special night,” said Andrew Jarczyk, president. “We will announce our upcoming summer classes and have a few special surprises for Friday night.”

The Artists of West Seneca exhibit will run until May 31.
