Runner’s Roost sold to high-ranking employee

Runner’s Roost, the Orchard Park athletic footwear store, has been purchased by longtime employee Michelle Fox, according to the company.

Fox has been an employee for 10 years and most recently served as assistant to the owner, sharing responsibility for day-to-day operations of the store.

The new owner, in a straight-up stock sale, has acquired 100 percent of the stock of D.J.B Shoes Inc., the parent company of Runner’s Roost.

“The core values and traditions will continue to be the foundation of the business, along with the excellent customer service that made it so successful.” Fox said.

Fox’s experience and reputation in the local running community will continue to be a great asset to the business, the company said.

As a 2000 graduate of Orchard Park High School, Fox was one of the best distance runners in Section VI, earning a scholarship to the University of Central Florida. Upon her return to Western New York, she coached at Niagara University and Daemen College.

While at Niagara, Fox coached the women’s cross-country team to its best finish in school history. She holds USA Track & Field Level One and Two coaching certifications. Fox also coached various running clubs in the area.

Fox will be joined by her husband, Robert Fox II, in operating the business and growing the company as a team. Together they intend to continue to build upon the strong values that have made Runner’s Roost successful, the company said.

Fox does not intend to make changes in the way the store services its customers and encourages new customers to experience what Runner’s Roost has offered customers for the past 34 years.
