TIDE baseball tryouts slated

The 14U TIDE baseball program will be having tryouts for the 2018 season at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Green Lake Park in Orchard Park.

It is open to anyone in Western New York regardless of residency.

TIDE baseball is a program led by head coach Ryan Pitt, a former Division I pitcher. The program focuses on fundamentals, how to play the game and the mental focus.

This past season, the TIDE finished with a record of 38-14-2 and placed fourth in the Boys of Summer League, tied for first in the Southtowns league, and played a handful of Clarence league games.

This year’s players all played on their modified school teams. The program also participated in five to six community service events.

New for 2018, the program will have an on-staff strength and conditioning coach to work with the players. The off-season facility is Sahlen’s Sports Complex.

There will also be a fall/winter long toss and pitching program implemented. This program has helped in preventing no arm injuries in three consecutive seasons.
