Strawberry social set at St. Nicodemus

St. Nicodemus Lutheran Church will hold a strawberry social from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at the church picnic grounds, 12029 Liberia Road, a half-mile east of Four Rod Road, in Marilla. Hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and ice cream will also be available. Eat in or take out. Entertainment is included.

Community Days events to take place

The West Seneca Civic and Patriotic Commission will host the annual West Seneca Community Days at Veterans Memorial Park on Friday, June 23, and Saturday, June 24. Activities will begin at 5 p.m. Friday behind West Seneca Town Hall and continue until midnight. On Saturday, the event will begin with the 2 p.m. parade and end at midnight. Entertainment will include a performance by “Impact” from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. in the beer tent. Saturday’s festivities will feature performances by “Hit N Run,” the “West Seneca Town Band” and “Kickin’ Rhythm Cloggers.” At dusk, Skylights will sponsor a fireworks display. Casino trip planned for June 26

A trip to Del Lago Resort and Casino in Waterloo, New York, is scheduled to depart from the Fourteen Holy Helpers parking lot, 1350 Indian Church Road, West Seneca, at 8:30 a.m. Monday, June 26, returning at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call Paula at 668-6037.

Benefit for Marlene McMillian to be held

A benefit for Marlene McMillian, a cleaner at East Senior High School, will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Seneca Hose Fire Company, 2801 Seneca St. McMillian is battling cancer and recently lost her husband, Dick, who served as head custodian in the district. She has been a district employee since 1984. Organizers of the event are seeking monetary and food donations; baskets for a raffle; and volunteers to help run the event. Enchanted Forest event set for July 23

The Burchfield Nature and Art Center welcomes children and families to its Enchanted Forest event from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 23, at the park, 2001 Union Road. Free activities include building fairy houses, creating wands and crowns, coloring nature pictures, having a snack in the fairy tea room, getting art painted on faces or hands, sitting for a spell and listening to a magical story, making butterfly wishes and enjoying nature in the Burchfield Park. Library to hold annual yard sale Aug. 19

The Friends of the West Seneca Public Library will hold a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, on the hill adjacent to Town Hall, 1250 Union Road. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the parking lot in front of the ice rink. The public is invited to request table space for a $20 donation, and to shop at the sale. West alumni picnic welcomes classes

West Seneca West High School classes, up to and including the class of 1966, are invited to join together for a picnic on Wednesday, Aug. 23. The event is being organized by the West Seneca West Alumni Committee. Those interested in joining may call Terry Sutton at 632-4040.

St. John’s seeks vendors for fair

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church is preparing for its second annual vendor fair and is looking for additional vendors. The event is slated for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the church, 3512 Clinton St. During the event, a Weidner’s chicken dinner will be offered for takeout.
