South Line to hold babysitting course

The South Line Fire Company will host a free babysitting course from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the fire hall, 1049 French Road, Cheektowaga. Doors will open at noon for registration. The course is open to all potential babysitters age 12. Each participant will receive a certificate of completion and a baby-sitters packet.

‘Bad Habit’ to play Harvey D. Morin Post

Rock band “Bad Habit” will perform from 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday, April 22, at the Harvey D. Morin VFW Post, 965 Center Road. Call 674-2940 for more information.

St. David’s sets chicken BBQ benefit

The fundraising committee at St. David’s Episcopal Church will hold a chicken barbecue fundraiser from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the church, 3951 Seneca St. Dinners are $10 for takeout only and include Krolick’s chicken, salad, potato salad, a roll and butter. Community prayer event slated for May 4

The West Seneca Community of Churches is sponsoring a prayer event at noon Thursday, May 4, in recognition of National Day of Prayer. The event will be held on that day at the Lions Band Shell located behind the West Seneca Public Library, 1300 Union Road. This is an ecumenical event and open to all who wish to pray for families, military, government, education system, churches, businesses and culture. All are welcome and may bring a lawn chair.

Mitochondrial support groups offered

Mitochondrial disease support groups, day and evening meetings will be offered for free in both the Northtowns and Southtowns. Participants learn about mitochondrial diseases and to network with affected families and individuals. Call or email for dates and times. East Middle goes ‘Bald for Bucks’

West Seneca East Middle School will participate in “Bald for Bucks” during the school day Friday, May 12, to benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Trivia fundraiser, raffle to benefit library

The West Seneca Public Library will hold a trivia fundraiser to benefit the library’s expansion project from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at American Legion Post 735, 35 Legion Drive. The first-place team will be awarded a prize and receive a trophy, and the second-place team will receive a prize. Team registration is $80, and up to four players are allowed per team. Individual registration is $20 and players may be assigned a team if requested. Must be 18 years old to register. Refreshments, a basket raffle and silent auction will also be offered. There is no charge to attend and participate in the raffles. Volunteers are needed for the event, and raffle donations are being accepted at the library. West side plans ‘Bald for Bucks’ event

West Seneca’s west side schools will hold their “West Side Bald for Bucks” event Friday, April 28, at West Middle. The event begins at 6 p.m. and includes Allendale Elementary, West Elementary, Winchester Elementary, West Middle and West Senior. Proceeds benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
