Historical society sets Christmas luncheon

The West Seneca Historical Society Christmas luncheon will be held Sunday, Dec. 11, at Christie’s Restaurant in the Southgate Plaza, 1056 Union Road. It begins with a meet-and-greet at 12:30 p.m. Installation of officers and trustees will be at 1 p.m. with dinner to follow. The buffet includes salad, breaded pork chops, roast beef, potato, vegetable, lazy pierogi, rolls and butter, dessert, and coffee, tea or soda. The cost is $23 per person. Reservations can be made by sending a check to the West Seneca Historical Society, 919 Mill Road, West Seneca, NY 14224 by Friday, Dec. 2.

Ebenezer plans Christmas Vespers

The annual Christmas Vespers, an hour of instrumental and choral Christmas music, will be presented at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 630 Main St. Admission is free and refreshments will follow.

Seniors host final 2016 speaker Judith Geer

The Ebenezer Seniors will hear from a retired librarian, Judith Geer, at its Friday, Nov. 18, meeting when Geer presents “Memories of War.” She will speak on the dark streets of Christmas 1941 to the glad tidings of 1945.Meetings are open to everyone and start at 1 p.m., followed by a guest speaker at 1:30 p.m. Meetings are held at the Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 630 Main St. Call 674-4566 for more information.

St. John’s serves free community dinner

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 3512 Clinton St., will offer its free community dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25. This month’s dinner features lazy tacos with Mexican bean salad, drinks and dessert. This is a family-friendly meal for both food and fellowship. There is no charge, but a free will donation will be accepted.
