Man found asleep in vehicle outside Sunoco

Monday, Feb. 16

• Three employees from the 7-Eleven on Seneca Street were arrested by police after the manager claimed they had stolen money and cigarettes from the store. All three were issued appearance tickets for Thursday, Feb. 27, in West Seneca Town Court.

• Police responded to a call of a car stuck in a snowbank on Route 219. Arriving on the scene, they determined that the driver's speed was imprudent for the slippery conditions and contributed to the accident. While observing the damage, the officer reportedly spotted a Styrofoam cup and matches along the driver-side quarter panel, appearing to have been recently discarded from the vehicle. Inside the cup were allegedly two partially smoked marijuana cigarettes. Further search of the vehicle produced a bag of loose marijuana, police said. The driver was arrested and charged with imprudent speed, unsafe lane change and unlawful possession of marijuana.

• A Buffalo man was stopped on Potters Road for a missing headlight. During the stop, it was discovered that his license was suspended. The man was arrested, and bail was set at $100. He was charged with inadequate headlights and unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

Tuesday, Feb. 17

• Police observed a vehicle on Clinton Street with numerous items hanging from the rearview mirror. During a stop of the vehicle, it was discovered that the driver’s license and registration had expired. The driver was issued tickets for the infractions.

Thursday, Feb. 19

• An Angola woman was stopped in front of the Burchfield Center for passing a red light. A computer check of her license showed it to be suspended. She was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation and passing a red light.

Friday, Feb. 20

• Patrol was dispatched to a shoplifting call at the Kmart on Orchard Park Road where loss prevention was holding a Hamburg man. Among the items taken were a Philips Radio, headphones, three USB connectors and a mag light flashlight. The items were valued at $94.93. The man allegedly stole some of the items from the WalMart in Hamburg. He was arrested and issued an appearance ticket for March 3 in West Seneca Town Court.

Saturday, Feb. 21

• Police responded to a suspicious person complaint at the Sunoco on Seneca Street. Upon arriving, they observed a man asleep behind the wheel of a running vehicle, which was parked in a handicap spot, allegedly with an open alcoholic container in his hand. Police turned off the vehicle and woke the driver, who did not know where he was. The driver was administered a field sobriety test, which he allegedly failed. He was arrested and charged with parking in a handicapped spot, unlicensed operation of a vehicle, unregistered vehicle, operating a vehicle without insurance, open container and DWI.
