The mall is about to suffer a body blow worse than any jab or hook Sylvester Stallone landed in “Rocky.” According to officials of General Cinema Theaters, the company which runs the theaters in Seneca Mall, their current lease will not be renewed with the mall when it expires. General Cinemas will be out of business in the Seneca Mall within two or three months, possibly sooner.

• West Seneca West gridiron standout Randy McKee has made his future football intentions clear: he will be playing for Fordham University in the New York City area. McKee, an All-Western New York selection at wide receiver, will receive a full scholarship to attend the university and display his wares on the football field.

• Though the smoke has cleared in some quarters of the West Seneca Central School District, the question of whether the board of education’s smoking policy is appropriate remains clouded. Some West Seneca residents feel restricting teachers’ smoking to designated areas is a good idea, as is banning smoking by students on school grounds. Others said students should have the right to smoke if they so choose and that designated smoking areas should be established for them.
