Arrest made in RX theft
On Tuesday, officials reported that Justin R. Moran, 26, of West Seneca, is being charged with robbery in the first degree, a felony, and menacing in the second degree, a misdemeanor.
He is accused of stealing roughly $30,000 in painkillers — approximately 2,500 Oxy- Contin and 1,500 Opana pills, as well as 50 Fentanyl patches — from the pharmacy on April 23, 2011.
At that time, Moran allegedly placed a knife to the pharmacist’s neck and demanded all of the available narcotics. Police said he then used duct tape to bind the 52-year-old pharmacist’s hands, feet and mouth before fleeing through the building’s rear entrance toward Cazenovia Creek.
West Seneca detectives James Pappaceno and Mary Caulfield are credited with making the arrest last week following their yearlong investigation.
Moran is currently being held on $75,000 bail.
The Medical Park Pharmacy, 550 Orchard Park Road, was previously burglarized for its Fentanyl patches and Lortabs around 2004, according to police.
