Joyce P. Wohlfeil, volunteer, active in church
Wohlfeil Joyce P. Wohlfeil, 78, of West Seneca, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012.
Mrs. Wohlfeil was born Joyce Baldus in Belleville, Ill., and graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame in 1951. She worked at AT&T as a telephone operator until she married her husband, Richard J., in 1955.
She became involved as a volunteer and parishioner of St. Bonaventure Church after relocating to West Seneca.
Mrs. Wohlfeil was active in supporting the school through the Mothers’ Club. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary 318 of the Knights of St. John, Marriage Encounter and religious education.
She served as the secretary of the East Coast District Council of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John.
Mrs. Wohlfeil often said that nothing in life was more important to her than her family.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; four daughters, Catherine A. Wohlfeil, Cynthia E. Miskell, Margaret L. Cavalieri and Jeanne M. Wohlfeil-Wrobel; five grandchildren; one brother, Donald E. Baldus; one sister, Nancy A. Mahoney; and one godson, Frank P. Calieri.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Monday, Jan. 30, at Blessed John XXIII Church.
