Two workshops remain in series

West Seneca Developmental Center

The West Seneca Environmental Commission has two workshops to present regarding the town’s involvement in the sale of the West Seneca Developmental Center property.

The 400-plus acres that the decommissioned state center sits on is located at 1200 East & West Road. It is expected to reach the real estate market in the next 12 to 18 months.

Upcoming meetings will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the West Seneca Senior Center, 4620 Seneca St., on the following Wednesdays:

Feb. 29 — Guest speaker Dean Gowan, landscape architect, will discuss possible development strategies for the property.

March 14 — An overview, breakout session and “next steps” will be discussed.

Previous meetings discussed current environmental features, land use and zoning of the property; an overall analysis of the property (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats); and a historical presentation, from pre-settlement to current day.
