Police seek ‘citizens’ for 23rd academy

The West Seneca Police Department is accepting reservations for a spot in its 23rd season of the Citizen Police Academy, which will run Feb. 15-April 18.

The 10-week course will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays this spring at Vigilant Fire Hall, located at 666 Main St.

Topics discussed during the Academy include traffic enforcement, the Detective Bureau, firearms, youth court, domestic violence, narcotics, and state and town law. Participants also receive a station tour, ride alongs and K9 demonstrations.

The academy was founded in 2000 to provide an informational look at the functions of the Police Department.
