AAA offers ‘Start Smart’ events for teen drivers

Teenagers are the group most at risk while behind the wheel on the road, according to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.

The foundation said that crashes are the leading cause of death for teenagers in the United States, killing nearly 6,000 annually and ending more teen lives than cancer, suicide and homicide combined. These statistics were presented in a recent press release.

To help inform parents and their teens on driving safety, AAA will offer a “Start Smart” teen driving seminar at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at the AAA Orchard Park Travel and Insurance Center, 3475 Amelia Drive.

AAA experts will be on hand to guide parents and teens through the entire licensing process, including helping them to better understand Department of Motor Vehicles paperwork and additional requirements for road testing.

Topics to be addressed at the seminar include driver training and education, driver distractions, rules of the road and insurance requirements.

To register, call (800) 836-CLUB (2582) or visit online at www.AAAdriverprograms.com.
