Community of Churches schedules Lenten Journey

The West Seneca Community of Churches invites the community to attend its annual Lenten Journey services this spring.

The theme for the 2012 Lenten Journey services is “Changed by Christ,” as inspired by the week of prayer for Christian unity. More information is available online at www.oikoumeme.org.

The series of ecumenical church services will begin Feb. 29 and will continue on Wednesdays throughout Lent. Each service will take place at a different West Seneca church and will relate to a new aspect of this year’s theme.

Below is a schedule of the Lenten Journey services, each of which begin at 7:30 p.m. Services feature guest pastors, as named in the schedule.

Feb. 29: “Changed by the Servant Christ” — Rev. Dan Serbicki of Queen of Heaven will preach at St. John’s Lutheran, 3512 Clinton St.

March 7: “Changed by the Suffering Servant”— Rev. Wayne Butler, district superintendent for United Methodist Church, will preach at First Presbyterian, 2085

Union Road.

March 14: “Changed by Christ’s Victory” — Rev. William Franklin, Episcopal bishop, will preach at New Hope United Methodist Church, 2846 Seneca St.

March 21:

“Changed by the

Peace of Christ” —

Rev. Marie Jerge,

Lutheran bishop, will preach at Blessed John XXIII Parish, 1 Arcade St., at Harlem Road.

March 28: “Changed by the Good Shepherd” — Rev. Bronwen Boswell, head of staff and presbyter, Presbytery of WNY, will preach at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 1475 Orchard Park Road.
