Goodwill opens ninth location; creates nine jobs

A grand opening celebration for the new Goodwill location in the Seneca-Ridge Plaza in West Seneca has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3.

This is the ninth and largest retail location — stretching more than 9,700 square feet — by Goodwill Industries of Western New York Inc. This retail store comes just six months after Goodwill opened its Depew location.

The store will feature clothing for women, men and children; accessories; home decor; kitchen wares; small appliances; linens; books; toys; furniture and more.

New items for sale will include house cleaning products, beauty and bath products, hats, mittens and socks.

The West Seneca store will accept donations at a drive-up donation center, which will be processed in-house, in addition to implementing a colored tagging system on clothing items.

“The advantage of processing and displaying inventory under one roof is that customers will see a higher volume of fresh merchandise every day,” said CEO Thomas Lynch, also president of Goodwill.

Nine new jobs have been created and revenue from sales will be allocated to support Goodwill’s job training programs for Western New Yorkers with disabilities and other barriers to employment.

“Employment is our main focus and has been since 1920,” added Lynch.

Goodwill in West Seneca, at 3531 Seneca St., will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
