The Lady Indians, who had lost three other matches this season by mere pins, were edged out by 31 pins by the Lady Quakers for what proved to be the decisive point. Haley Schlager had West’s high set with her 191-510 series, while the “B” team was paced by Katie Ziemba’s high games of 159 and 171.

“We just can’t get the spares at the right time,” coach Scott Schreiner said.

West did pick up an always sought-after victory January 18 when it knocked off crosstown rival West Seneca East, 6-1. Alyssa Jensen had the team’s high set with a 213-542 series, while Lindsey Fuoco bowled a 200 in her second game.

West’s “B” team saw Megan Backus roll a 172 high game, while Emily Crowley bowled a 170 in her first game.

West returns to action this afternoon by hosting Frontier at Strikers Lanes, and then faced Sweet Home at Manor II Lanes on Tuesday.
