Hillside affiliate seeks gift donations for children, families in need

The annual Hillside Special Santas program is collecting gifts for children and families in need who are served by affiliates of the Hillside Family of Agencies, now through Dec. 16.

Those affiliates include the Hillside Children’s Center in West Seneca, as well as the Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection and Snell Farm Children’s Center.

The goal of this initiative is to provide youth and families with three gifts, in addition to a modest grocery card to help make ends meet.

“We hope that the community will keep our Hillside youth and families in mind as they start thinking about holiday shopping,” said Heather VanDyne, Hillside Special Santa coordinator. “The youth and families that receive holiday gifts ... are incredibly grateful and touched to know that someone in our community cares and is thinking about them during this time of the year.”

Donation suggestions include, but are not limited to: soccer balls, footballs and basketballs; jewelry; sports watches for girls and boys; duffle bags, drawstring bags, sports bags and purses; cologne, body sprays and body kits for teenage girls and boys; lotions, make-up or hair supplies for teenage girls; hooded sweatshirts for all ages; MP3 players, under $25; building toys for young children; books for all ages; and $25 grocery gift cards to Tops, Wegmans or Walmart.

Gifts may be dropped off at any of the Hillside Special Santas community partner locations, including Key Bank, Buffalo Athletic Club and Aspen Dental.
