Michael Dieter was in boot camp the day the country fell under attack by foreign terrorists on Sept. 11, 2001.

He recalls working in the kitchen that day at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, when the news broke.

Internships available with county legislators

The Erie County Legislature Democratic Caucus is seeking six students ages 16 and older to serve as unpaid interns for the summer 2012 semester.

Interns will assist the elected legislators and their support staff during the regular session of the Legislature for college credit or for experience, and will be expected to commit to 15 hours of service a week.

The West Seneca Town Board will host a work session and demonstration for department heads on its new paperless voucher system at 6 p.m. Monday, May 21. This will be held before the board’s regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the courtroom at West Seneca Town Hall, 1250 Union Road.
